50 hr yin yoga, meditation & Yoga Nidra teacher training

Spring 2027 | Yin Yoga, Meditation Immersion

Independently led by Jan Wright

A quiet return to stillness, rhythm and the intelligence of nature.

This 50-hour Yin Yoga & Meditation Training is an intimate Spring immersion designed for teachers and dedicated practitioners looking for a slower and more thoughtful approach.

Held in a light-filled private studio in Exmouth Market, this training invites you to step away from noise, performance and constant output, and into a way of practising and teaching rooted in observation, presence and embodiment.

Rather than constantly trying to correct or push the body, we will explore Yin, meditation and Yoga Nidra as practices of listening; to the nervous system, the breath, the tissues of the body and the way the nervous system, breath and body respond under pressure, rest and stillness.

Over five days together, we will move through long-held Yin practices, guided meditation, Yoga Nidra, philosophy, reflective discussion and teaching exploration in a deliberately calm and spacious environment giving enough time for the practices to actually land, rather than rushing through information.

Why Spring?

In Daoist philosophy, Spring is associated with emergence, renewal and forward movement.

It is a season of growth; a time to create space for new direction, respond with greater adaptability and allow what has been resting beneath the surface to begin moving again.

This training has been intentionally placed in Spring to reflect that sense of transition and possibility.

The practices explored throughout the week are designed to support curiosity, embodied awareness, functional movement and a more adaptable relationship with stillness. Alongside the quieter qualities of Yin, we will also explore how movement, breath and seasonal themes can inform sequencing, teaching language and the way we guide students through change.

Rather than treating Spring as a time to simply “do more”, the emphasis is on growth with awareness; developing greater clarity, responsiveness and confidence both within your own practice and in the way you teach.

Who This Training Is For

This immersion is for:

  • Yoga teachers wanting to deepen their understanding of Yin beyond choreography and shapes

  • Practitioners drawn toward slower, introspective and energetically informed practices

  • Teachers interested in more grounded, trauma-aware and adaptable ways of holding space

  • Those looking to reconnect with practice in a quieter and more embodied way

  • Anyone curious about the relationship between Yin Yoga, meditation, Yoga Nidra, Daoist thought and modern understanding of the body

What We Will Explore

Throughout the immersion, we will work with themes including:

  • Yin Yoga through a functional, individualised and Daoist-informed lens

  • Functional anatomy, skeletal variation, tension and compression, and why bodies experience postures differently

  • Teaching from target area and function rather than aesthetic shape

  • Mindfulness, meditation and Yoga Nidra, including language, pacing, silence and structured guidance

  • The role of choice, support, props and rebound within Yin practice

  • Chinese Medicine-inspired sequencing, including the Five Elements, introductory meridian theory and seasonal themes

  • Daoist-inspired movement and Qigong forms as a bridge between movement and stillness

  • Yang/Yin sequencing and how to create a coherent transition from more active movement into longer-held Yin

  • How sensation, attention, stillness and internal experience can shape the way we practise and teach

  • Developing language that is clear, spacious and non-prescriptive, without telling students what they should be feeling

  • Observation, adaptation and responsible scope of practice, including when to offer options, pause or refer

  • Teaching Yin in a way that feels grounded, inclusive, sustainable and responsive to the individual

  • Building confidence in sequencing, room positioning, teacher presence and the use of silence

  • Integrating Yin, meditation and Yoga Nidra into your own teaching in a way that feels authentic rather than formulaic

The emphasis throughout the training is not on memorising information or learning a fixed sequence. Instead, the focus is on helping you develop the confidence to teach Yin Yoga safely, adapt practices for different students and understand why you are making the choices you make as a teacher.

What You Will Take Away

By the end of the training, you will have a clearer and more practical understanding of how to teach and practise Yin Yoga in a way that feels confident, adaptable and grounded in both experience and informed teaching principles.

Rather than relying on fixed scripts, rigid alignment or memorised sequences, you will learn how to work with the individuality of bodies, observe what is actually happening in the room and make thoughtful choices around posture, props, pacing, language and sequencing.

For teachers, this training can help you to:

  • Broaden your teaching offering beyond more dynamic styles of yoga

  • Develop greater confidence working with different bodies, levels of experience and physical needs

  • Understand how skeletal variation, tension, compression and target area influence the way a posture is experienced

  • Sequence Yin classes with greater clarity, purpose and adaptability

  • Integrate mindfulness, meditation and Yoga Nidra into your teaching with greater confidence

  • Use silence, pacing and enquiry more effectively, without feeling the need to constantly fill space

  • Develop language that is clear, spacious and less prescriptive

  • Work more skilfully with props, variations, rebounds and transitions

  • Explore Chinese Medicine-inspired sequencing, Five Element themes and introductory meridian theory without moving beyond the scope of a yoga teacher

  • Incorporate Daoist-inspired movement and Yang/Yin sequencing into your wider teaching

  • Strengthen your ability to observe, adapt and respond without assuming what a student is feeling

  • Build greater awareness around teacher presence, room positioning, boundaries and student choice

  • Create classes that feel inclusive, sustainable and responsive rather than aesthetically driven

  • Bring greater depth to existing Yin, Vinyasa, Yang/Yin, restorative-style and slower movement classes

Many teachers leave Yin training with more than a new class format to teach. The practice can begin to shift the way you teach more broadly; away from performance and perfect shapes and towards observation, discernment, adaptability and a deeper trust in the value of space, simplicity and listening.
